Ideas were thrown around, we thought though, the bigger, the better! Why not take everyday objects and make them look unusual and surreal by putting them in an unusual environment and wrap them up in parcel paper, like the press pack box.</div><div><br /></div><div>Well! after a crazy night of wrapping up a coffee table, dining chair, guitar, cup, place mat, picture frame, standing lamp, a plate and a table lamp in parcel paper, we had a studio shoot with Charlie interacting with the objects and the pictures came out absolutely amazingly! I've never been so proud of the work I've produced along with Dan and Luke. We really have made a good team! But with the added inclusion of Charlie and Jim, None of this would have been possible! Thank you guys!</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2GNozkkI/AAAAAAAAAHk/kywaQoUyRJw/s1600-h/3334093988_ab710677df.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 283px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2GNozkkI/AAAAAAAAAHk/kywaQoUyRJw/s400/3334093988_ab710677df.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310858972200407618" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2FzcBDlI/AAAAAAAAAHc/Lxo9dcjNufY/s1600-h/3331305125_50638d9d61.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2FzcBDlI/AAAAAAAAAHc/Lxo9dcjNufY/s400/3331305125_50638d9d61.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310858965167443538" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2FowynGI/AAAAAAAAAHU/sAVa5an77DI/s1600-h/3331296043_8aeda8abf0.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 281px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2FowynGI/AAAAAAAAAHU/sAVa5an77DI/s400/3331296043_8aeda8abf0.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310858962301787234" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2Fb7TqKI/AAAAAAAAAHM/4DTQu9ttF5E/s1600-h/3331284899_60e40843a2.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 261px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2Fb7TqKI/AAAAAAAAAHM/4DTQu9ttF5E/s400/3331284899_60e40843a2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310858958856235170" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2DRTjGjI/AAAAAAAAAHE/sEzKEXBceVw/s1600-h/3331275137_82f2418b8b.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbP2DRTjGjI/AAAAAAAAAHE/sEzKEXBceVw/s400/3331275137_82f2418b8b.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310858921645382194" /></a>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-75280045325908941272009-03-08T09:36:00.000-07:002009-03-08T09:41:22.204-07:00Charle Hole Photo Shoot.<div>As requested by Jim Cregan, we all went out on a photo shoot down the beach with Charlie to get some shots of him on location for the press pack and his website. It's essentially him and an acoustic guitar in the limelight, similar to existing artists like Jack Johnson, Newton Faulkner and Jason Mraz. Therefore, we researched into the way they are portrayed through design and we found similar themes throughout like hand rendered type, illustrative, grainy photography and natural materials.<br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbPybMM9beI/AAAAAAAAAGE/2-r3-Clhh98/s400/newtoncake.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310854934545919458" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbPya1QyYfI/AAAAAAAAAF8/9doQdSlQ0aw/s400/cd-jack-johnson.jpeg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310854928387957234" /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbPyRRUMQ1I/AAAAAAAAAF0/nrCgTS1TFMg/s400/2039662542_821ac4d0_JasonMraz-03-big.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310854764119737170" /></div><div><br /><div><br /></div><div>So, in preperation for meeting Jim Cregan, We have created some mood boards of photography, illustration, etc as well as producing some rough ideas of our own which we all think suit Charlie's style perfectly. We all really liked the idea of parcels and parcel paper with white string, especially for a press pack to be sent to record labels and radio stations.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbPzRIaYOSI/AAAAAAAAAGU/gr5AuudYVS4/s1600-h/parcel.gif"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 333px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SbPzRIaYOSI/AAAAAAAAAGU/gr5AuudYVS4/s400/parcel.gif" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310855861241395490" /></a><br /><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-90604397972904923122009-03-03T06:30:00.000-08:002009-03-03T06:44:39.481-08:00Screen based communication hand in time...After a busy few weeks with three live briefs on the go and finishing off my website, its been a bit of a rush to get everything on time. I managed to get my website fully functional and up and running on the internet but my research and development work took a back seat.<div><br /></div><div>I've produced a website that I absolutely love! I think it reflects me as a designer perfectly. It's innovative, very different to other websites out there and it has a lot of scope for other uses. I've basically built myself a template in which I can base websites I make in the future without it getting old or boring.</div><div><br /></div><div>If I'm completely honest, I don't care about the grade I achieved for this because I know I have produced something that I am more than happy with and can use for a good length of my career ass a designer. It's been so helpful, this brief, in terms of finding a job in the future that a grade seems irrelevant.</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-72459979778779951592009-03-03T04:41:00.000-08:002009-03-08T05:56:52.274-07:00Not another live brief! After finishing off the lingerie leaflet, once again, Mat Desmier came to us with an exciting opportunity. Jim Cregan (<a href="http://www.jimcregan.com/">see here</a>), musical legend and all round nice guy, wants us to work with Charlie Hole (<a href="http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=184957581">see here</a>) on producing a press pack, EP cover and album cover for his launch into the music industry with also a chance to have a few photo-shoots with Charlie to get any pictures we need and they need.<div><br /></div><div>This is a great opportunity for luke dan and me and can open some serious doors into the design industry and the music industry. Jim Cregan is seriously connected! He's written countless songs for people including Rod Stewart, played guitar for countless people, the latest being Katie Melua. So for him to see potential in Charlie Holes talent and also our talent is quite a complement.</div><div><br /></div><div>I shall be working very hard for this man!</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-81073479508006211732009-03-03T04:01:00.000-08:002009-03-03T04:08:58.966-08:00Live Brief!Luke, Dan and myself have been talking to Mat Desmier from the enterprise pavillion and he has given us a live brief. It's for the arts institute's study abroad programme in Brazil! Basically, we have to produce an A3 poster accompanied by a leaflet to be used in Brazil. That means all the copy has to all be in Portuguese! <div><br /></div><div>The main thing they were looking for in this was that it was 'obviously' British whilst 'avoiding' London connotations as they wont be in London, they'll be in Bournemouth. It also would have to involve an obvious element of fashion as it was for the fashion course at AIB. </div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-67546779994618358432009-03-03T03:44:00.000-08:002009-03-03T03:52:23.277-08:00Cracking on!Now I'm finally back from Christmas, I've been getting on with the creation of my portfolio website. I kept looking over Christmas at different websites and formats, etc. and I'm now satisfied that I've seen almost every style and format possible! I've gone with a simple HTML based website because I wanted to make it easily updatable and accessible but because I wanted to have an element of animation or fluidity involved, I will integrate some javascript into it.<div><br /></div><div>I have come across loads of javascript that I like and decided to plump with a version I found which uses pop out windows inside the webpage! sounds interesting, I know! </div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-82221954363355938112009-03-03T03:31:00.000-08:002009-03-03T03:42:58.348-08:00Christmas Break! Where am I now...Christmas is coming up and we leave uni for three weeks soon! So far I am working hard on the Screen based brief set to us. I have mostly been researching into various ways I can create my website and then experimenting with those ways by putting them into context with what I want and how I want to display my work.<div><br /></div><div>I haven't found one particular method I'm completely satisfied with. That's not to say I wouldn't use one I've come across so far, I'm just still open to whatever format possible. I don't want to decide straight away otherwise I may find something else I really like after being halfway through finishing the project!</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-12674496389544084152009-03-03T03:14:00.000-08:002009-03-03T03:30:46.537-08:00New Brief! Screen Based Communication 2.This is one of the briefs I have been most looking forward to since starting Visual Communication last year. We are required to produce a working portfolio website containing our own work accumulated over our time spent at uni. The website we create can be in any format we choose just as long as it is compatible and fully functional with most browsers, like Safari, FireFox, Internet Explorer, etc.<div><br /></div><div>I have been really looking forward to this brief because it's the first piece of work we are going to produce that has proper physical contact with people other than the tutors or the class. It could potentially be viewed by anyone around the world! It's also going to have to be a true reflection on us as a designer so it's a chance to brand ourselves into what we want to become, be it illustrator, graphic designer or other.</div><div><br /></div><div>It's going to be our first contact with the design industry for real so I shall be focusing solely on looking at different formats, experimental formats and formats that push the boundaries not only in order to learn but to create a different and innovative site that can reflect me.</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-16069413718034952112009-02-26T10:51:00.000-08:002009-02-26T11:00:31.782-08:00Greetings Cards Exhibition... Yeah Right!!Well! There I was, all excited about my greetings cards going into an exhibition for prospective clients. I got my Mum and Dad down from back home especially!<div><br /></div><div>Shame, the 'exhibition' was in actual fact a general tat (yeah, I said it! TAT!) sale for anyone looking for things to give people they didn't actually like! Our cards, photographed and mounted on seven foot tall boards, looked totally out of place among the stalls and tables.</div><div><br /></div><div>I don't blame anyone! I know it's not Neil's fault. But I was very let down by the whole day!</div><div><br /></div><div>Never mind! I just took my Mum and Dad to the inkbar for something to eat instead! That should have impressed them!</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-68162478877088634352009-02-26T10:38:00.000-08:002009-02-26T10:50:35.954-08:00Ink Bar Launch Party!!All the hard work and perseverance pays off! We convinced them with the name, logo, style, everything! and it all looked amazing! We all had a brilliant night, but with free champagne, free food and hanging out with some of the wealthiest people in Bournemouth (and Sally & Neil), who wouldn't!<div><br /></div><div>What I loved most about the night was that seeing all our work in action, all over the walls, windows, menus, everywhere, put everything in perspective for me. It made everything seem real and gave my hard work and effort purpose. It's given me a massive confidence boost and I feel like I could be an awesome designer!</div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SabkStv1HrI/AAAAAAAAAFs/wi88FGZZ3pI/s400/n500914850_974268_9443.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5307180221071695538" /><div>My Favourite picture of the night. After the climax of last week having a Critique for their work, we though now we could go through their next brief which was similar to one we had last year where we had to produce an advertising campaign for the Poppy Appeal. Their advertising campaign is based around Amnesty International and they have to produce the same stuff we had to, a T-section of a bus and an adshell poster for the bus-stop.<div><br /></div><div>A couple of days later Luke I had to do a talk for Kit about PAL to a load of tutors from other courses interested in taking it onto their course. It was quite nervy having lots of course leaders asking you about PAL but in the end we pulled through and I have no idea if they would take it on but I think they should!</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-85950262916800908802009-02-26T10:25:00.000-08:002009-02-26T10:26:37.135-08:00Manchester United 1, Queens Park Rangers 0.Not bad I suppose! I found they got a lot out of the situation and they responded well to any questions we asked. It couldn't have gone any better I feel. Maybe if a few more of them actually brought all if not some of their work! The ones that did though seemed to enjoy it.</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-44423839954716220052009-02-26T09:54:00.000-08:002009-02-26T10:11:00.424-08:00Animal Packaging...Today we have been set the new brief for us to create a new packaging design along with any advertising media necessary for a new watch Animal, the surfing-type clothes company, are developing and due to release in the near future. Its practically a live brief which has been set by the designers at animals headquarters in Poole.<div><br /></div><div>My initial ideas so far go along the ideas of travel, traveling or possibly an item you would take traveling with you. I like the idea of having a piece of packaging that has a primary use as something personal and a secondary use as packaging or protection for the watch without compromising the quality or security of the watch.</div><div><br /></div><div>ALSO...</div><div><br /></div><div>Today, we had a meeting with James, the designer working in conjunction with us on the inkbar branding, about our logo, how it will be used, where, etc.</div><div><br /></div><div>Basically, he's come up with the menu and various other bits and pieces for it which we all really liked and tied in with the theme we were aiming for. He also gave us a few images he's used in the work he's done and chosen a body text font, Helvetica Neue light, which we also all agreed complemented the typefaces we had used in the creation of the logo.</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-65930004452685660312009-02-03T04:09:00.000-08:002009-03-03T04:15:14.816-08:00Another Live Brief!Well! Whilst talking to Mat Desmier about our current live brief, he has given us another! It's a bit smaller but still very interesting. The client wants us to produce a mini brochure or leaflet for her new lingerie collection she has made for an exhibition of some sort. This has the possibility of us also having a photo-shoot where Dan can use his expertise. This is only a quick one though so it depends all on whether or not Mat can get us a studio or not in time.George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-60578329793786958972008-11-03T16:40:00.000-08:002008-11-04T09:51:25.051-08:00Hooray!!! Are Ink Bar design's been picked! At last! We've finally been given some good news for this brief. They have settled on a logo.<div><br /></div><div>Vicky, Luke, Megan, James and me have had a thorough meeting with Chloe about where to go with this next. Basically, now they have settled on a logo, Chloe wants us to produce all the media for the Ink Bar. That includes;</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Window graphics<br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Invitations<br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>A Website<br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>A Web banner, basically the works!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>Luke and me have already said we would love to produce a website for them. I personally wanted to do a website instead of the graphics because we have done so much of that already not only this year but last year and it would be great to start making websites now so I feel more confident about making one for myself in our final major project.</div><div><br /></div><div>Although we are currently being taught Dreamweaver and how to make websites, I personally still feel competent enough to produce a fine piece of work for the Ink Bar.</div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 250px; height: 140px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SRCLWGmBpRI/AAAAAAAAAFc/1bHZKkuYpR0/s320/inkbarlogo.gif" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5264861176239596818" /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Here is the chosen logo.</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-45387756267204464292008-11-03T13:22:00.000-08:002008-11-04T09:39:10.627-08:00PAL (Round 4)Today we thought it would be best for the first years if we helped them out with their time management. I was at first uneasy about doing this with them because I think its quite demeaning and patronising to some of the first years, especially as I am probably younger than most of them and they probably manage their time a lot better than me!<div>However, when we sat down with them all and asked them if they wanted to or not, they were really up for it! If anything, they seemed to respond really well to the lesson plan and hopefully come away with some good tips from each other.</div><div><br /></div><div>Today was a first though. At the end of the hour they actually knew what they wanted to cover next week! They all stated they were unsure about what to expect at their final hand in and critique next week so Vicky, Luke and I have told them to bring in all their work next Monday so we can have a Mock Crit. Hopefully we can give them a taste of what to expect and help them prepare for it with confidence.</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-45060891988028803102008-11-01T09:23:00.000-07:002008-11-04T09:27:12.455-08:00Some logos so far...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SRCFtkK7YTI/AAAAAAAAAFU/SICA4ftFUiY/s1600-h/logos.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 232px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SRCFtkK7YTI/AAAAAAAAAFU/SICA4ftFUiY/s320/logos.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5264854982246228274" /></a>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-54198901638242119512008-10-31T15:24:00.000-07:002008-11-04T09:23:20.591-08:00Still haven't found what they're looking for.Vicky, Megan, Luke, James and myself have been grinding out the Ink Bar logo's for the past couple of days and they still haven't settled on one in particular! We must have given them about 30 pages of great logos between us and still no one can decide on a specific logo. Personally I would rather just get going on some of the media work they need finished in a couple of days before the launch.<div>They still need invitations printed up and sent out,</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>menus ready for the 20th November,<br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>an ad banner to go on Nationwides intranet and<br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>a website up and running preferably before they open.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>I can't remember the last time I worked on our 'Vis Com in context' unit. Here's an email I received from Chloe;</div><div><br /></div>Hey guys<br /><br />Thanks for all your work to date, the ideas and the debates are very<br />inspiring. As I mentioned to you I am having a meeting at 10am<br />tomorrow to discuss, I will let you know following that. I do have<br />some other projects on the go, so if you are interested in getting<br />some live briefs to work on, then let me know. These are much more<br />specific with content and far more brand identity and some you maybe<br />able to incorporate into your units for uni.<br /><br />So keep intouch and catch up soon<br /><br /><br />Chloe Parmiter<br />Events Manager<br />The Print Room, Ink Bar, Aruba & WestBeachGeorge Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-11901657318447815702008-10-27T11:58:00.000-07:002008-11-02T11:14:28.303-08:00PAL (Round 3)Last week some of the first years mentioned they didn't really know how to personalise their blog for PPRD and some of them said they didn't even have a blog yet! So Luke, Vicky and I thought it would be best if we tried to help them get the ball rolling on their blogs because, if we were all honest, we didn't have a blog last year and I definitely wish I had done one!<div><br /><div>So, we sat down and decided we should make them a little PDF about blogger and the easiest way to personalise it. This way were not trying to teach them, they have to read it for themselves and they can have something to keep and reference back to whenever they get stuck.</div><div><br /></div><div>This went down an absolute treat! We had everyone working away at a computer personalising their blogs, using their handouts whilst us three went round the room chatting to all of them and helping anyone stuck. they all seemed to really get into it because after the hour was up, none of them wanted to leave. When Kit came up to talk to us about how it went, she was very impressed (thanks guys!).</div><div><br /></div><div>If anyone wants a copy of our handout for blogger, don't hesitate to ask!</div></div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-32414838172619329282008-10-24T16:52:00.000-07:002008-11-02T11:02:54.069-08:00Greetings Cards Critique.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SQ33pC0vlRI/AAAAAAAAAFM/Fc49vLmvtyw/s1600-h/final+designs.png"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 247px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_nrnAhH4CM1g/SQ33pC0vlRI/AAAAAAAAAFM/Fc49vLmvtyw/s320/final+designs.png" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5264135823970768146" /></a>These are the final designs I chose to take forward to the critique. The rude ones are more of an example of how far this idea can be stretched.<div><br /></div><div>The feedback I got from Sally, Neil & Claire was very positive. Claire believed they would be best suited in places like borders or even the Design Museum because they are so innovative. Sally thought it might be nice to have the same colour envelope and card but I think if that were so it would almost spoil the surprise of the card, giving away what's inside it, that's why I just used a general colour all the way through.</div><div><br /></div><div>All thats left for me to do is to make the print spec up and annotate the rest of my work.</div>George Russellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15136187626769520601noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8363068028917770257.post-7744864074311150312008-10-23T12:41:00.000-07:002008-11-02T09:41:52.166-08:00ISTD Overview with Sally.Basically Sally just wanted to talk to all the people who wanted to have a go at entering into the ISTD 2009 project this year and as she is an examiner for them, who better to talk to!<div><br /></div><div>She gave us some key points to consider when producing our piece for it;</div><div><ul><li>Prove you can handle typography,</li><li>Be clear on your outcomes,</li><li>Do lots of research (keep it too!),</li><li>Produce a type spec,</li><li>Making your own typeface isn't needed!</li><li>You can do an animation if you want,</li><li>Avoid imagery (20%-30% at most)</li><li>Don't go for the obvious!</li></ul><div>I'm going for it this year.
