Another Live Brief!
Well! Whilst talking to Mat Desmier about our current live brief, he has given us another! It's a bit smaller but still very interesting. The client wants us to produce a mini brochure or leaflet for her new lingerie collection she has made for an exhibition of some sort. This has the possibility of us also having a photo-shoot where Dan can use his expertise. This is only a quick one though so it depends all on whether or not Mat can get us a studio or not in time.

At last! We've finally been given some good news for this brief. They have settled on a logo.
Vicky, Luke, Megan, James and me have had a thorough meeting with Chloe about where to go with this next. Basically, now they have settled on a logo, Chloe wants us to produce all the media for the Ink Bar. That includes;
Window graphics
Invitations
A Website
A Web banner, basically the works!
Luke and me have already said we would love to produce a website for them. I personally wanted to do a website instead of the graphics because we have done so much of that already not only this year but last year and it would be great to start making websites now so I feel more confident about making one for myself in our final major project.
Although we are currently being taught Dreamweaver and how to make websites, I personally still feel competent enough to produce a fine piece of work for the Ink Bar.

Today we thought it would be best for the first years if we helped them out with their time management. I was at first uneasy about doing this with them because I think its quite demeaning and patronising to some of the first years, especially as I am probably younger than most of them and they probably manage their time a lot better than me!
However, when we sat down with them all and asked them if they wanted to or not, they were really up for it! If anything, they seemed to respond really well to the lesson plan and hopefully come away with some good tips from each other.
Today was a first though. At the end of the hour they actually knew what they wanted to cover next week! They all stated they were unsure about what to expect at their final hand in and critique next week so Vicky, Luke and I have told them to bring in all their work next Monday so we can have a Mock Crit. Hopefully we can give them a taste of what to expect and help them prepare for it with confidence.
Still haven't found what they're looking for.
Vicky, Megan, Luke, James and myself have been grinding out the Ink Bar logo's for the past couple of days and they still haven't settled on one in particular! We must have given them about 30 pages of great logos between us and still no one can decide on a specific logo. Personally I would rather just get going on some of the media work they need finished in a couple of days before the launch.
They still need invitations printed up and sent out,
menus ready for the 20th November,
an ad banner to go on Nationwides intranet and
a website up and running preferably before they open.
I can't remember the last time I worked on our 'Vis Com in context' unit. That's also got to be handed in on the 20th November!
The ink Rooms Expand!
Doing this Ink Bar re-branding brief may have opened up a world of opportunity for me and everyone else working on this with me! Here's an email I received from Chloe;
Thanks for all your work to date, the ideas and the debates are very
inspiring. As I mentioned to you I am having a meeting at 10am
tomorrow to discuss, I will let you know following that. I do have
some other projects on the go, so if you are interested in getting
some live briefs to work on, then let me know. These are much more
specific with content and far more brand identity and some you maybe
able to incorporate into your units for uni.

PAL (Round 3)
Last week some of the first years mentioned they didn't really know how to personalise their blog for PPRD and some of them said they didn't even have a blog yet! So Luke, Vicky and I thought it would be best if we tried to help them get the ball rolling on their blogs because, if we were all honest, we didn't have a blog last year and I definitely wish I had done one!
So, we sat down and decided we should make them a little PDF about blogger and the easiest way to personalise it. This way were not trying to teach them, they have to read it for themselves and they can have something to keep and reference back to whenever they get stuck.
This went down an absolute treat! We had everyone working away at a computer personalising their blogs, using their handouts whilst us three went round the room chatting to all of them and helping anyone stuck. they all seemed to really get into it because after the hour was up, none of them wanted to leave. When Kit came up to talk to us about how it went, she was very impressed (thanks guys!).
